<p>The bus showcased MWR throughout it’s hundred years of operation in the city and the firm’s FundsforClubs scheme,which is designed to help sporting, social or recreational clubs solve some of their funding problems.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>MWR Solicitor’s Funds4Clubs scheme has been announced as the sponsor of Preston City Council’s schools sports competitions. </strong></p>
<p>The programme of 40 events which kicked off this month will see more than 3,000 pupils from primary, secondary and special schools taking part in events across the City. MWR’s Funds4Clubs scheme supports local community groups and initiatives. It is designed to help sporting, social or recreational clubs solve some of their funding problems.</p>
<p>Once a club has registered to the scheme it receives a donation every time a club member or the club member’s family use the services of MWR Solicitors.</p>
<p>Jane Booker, partner at MWR Solicitors, said: “As a firm we are committed to supporting our local community and we are very proud to be involved with Preston Council’s National schools games initiative.</p>
<p>“We were so impressed with last year’s events and are therefore pleased to strengthen our support for a second year, especially with the initiative’s strong links with key events in 2012, such as the Corporate Games and Preston Guild.”</p>
<p>Dean Brandwood, competition manager, Preston City Council said: “The support of local companies such as MWR Solicitors plays an essential part in the development of competitions across Preston.”</p>

<p>MWR Solicitors&#8217;s Funds for Clubs Scheme has grown considerably over the last year and we are delighted to announce that Burnley Basketball Club has now signed up as a member, joining many other clubs from around the county. The club, based in Padiham, East Lancashire are currently fourth in the MABL League. In addition to the senior team, the club also has a number of youth teams (Under 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s)</p>
<p>Burnley Basketball Club will now be able to benefit from the F4Cs scheme, meaning every time a club member (or a family member) uses MWR Solicitors services, the firm will make a donation to the club. Our F4Cs scheme was recently short-listed for the professional services to sport category at the Inaugural MBNA Northern Sports Awards 2011.</p>

The festival, taking place on Bank Holiday Monday (May 30) promises to be the largest single-day rugby league festival in the country with more than 1,500 players from over 60 teams gathering to compete. </p>
<p>All teams that take part will receive tickets to the Warriors versus Hull KR game in the evening with all junior teams helping to celebrate the festival by parading around the pitch at the DW Stadium.<br />
MWR are committed to supporting local sport and recreation in the community and see the Wigan Festival of Rugby as a fine example of just that.</p>

Over 120 young footballers will benefit from funding pledged by local law firm MWR Solicitors which has recently signed up as official sponsors of the Under 14 National Asian Youth Championship.</p>
<p>Through its growing Funds4Clubs scheme MWR already sponsors Fishwick Rangers FC, the 2010 Under 14 winners. The scheme assists local clubs and organisations with funding.</p>
<p>The Under 14 group games and semi-finals will take place at Lancashire Constabulary HQ in Hutton, Preston on Saturday, April 23, with the finalists invited to return on May 2 at Blackburn Rovers Academy ground or Nelson Town FC.</p>
<p>The Championship is organised by Fishwick Rangers and will see local teams compete against teams from London, Cheetham Hill (Manchester) and Oldham.</p>
<p>Funds4Clubs was launched in 2010 and aims to help sporting, social or recreational clubs solve some of their funding problems. The scheme is available to any group including cricket clubs, arts and crafts groups, dance groups, school PTAs and Brownies.</p>
<p>Annette Thompson, partner at MWR Solicitors, said: “MWR is dedicated to supporting the local community and it is hugely rewarding to be able to sponsor some of the county’s finest talent competing in The National Asian Youth Championship.”</p>
<p>Head volunteer at Fishwick Rangers, Zul Hussain, said: “We are delighted to have the backing of MWR. Without the support of companies like MWR, children from across the UK would not have the opportunity to compete in high profile championships such as this.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lancashire law firm, MWR Solicitors, has signed up as sponsors of Senior World Martial Arts champion, Ferrari Faqiri.</p>
<p>Preston-born Ferrari competes nationally and internationally in both Taekwondo and Karate and claimed his most recent title at the World Martial Arts Championships in Las Vegas in July 2010.</p>
<p>MWR has pledged its support to the UCLan student and will support him with training and travel expenses.</p>
<p>Ferrari was a scholarship student at Preston  College, before he started university in 2008 where he is studying sports journalism.</p>
<p>Welcoming the sponsorship Ferrari said: <em>“</em><em>I started training in Taekwondo at the age of five, and karate at age 10. I’m now working towards a place at the Olympics in London in 2012 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.</em></p>

<p><em>“It is really important for me to gain the support of local businesses such as MWR and as I work towards achieving my dreams.”</em><em> </em></p>
<p>Ferrari’s passion for martial arts has taken him all over the world, competing in several world championships and over 80 Major tournaments since 2006.</p>
<p>Jane Booker, partner at MWR, said: <em>“The Olympic Games is approaching fast, and it is hugely important that we support our local sports stars. We are looking forward to being part of Ferrari’s future achievements.”</em></p>

<p>Ferrari was recently named as a nominee for Sports Personality of the Year at the British Asian Sports Awards (BASA), where his father is also nominated in the category of Coach of the Year. The awards ceremony is due to take place in London on March 5.</p>

<p>Preston Harriers’ Gema Adams, who will run the London Marathon in April, has been awarded £200 from MWR Solicitors which will go towards running shoes, kit and outdoor clothing to help her prepare for the 26 mile race.</p>
<p>Gema is the latest local amateur sports star to benefit from MWR’s community investment programme joining Senior World Martial Arts champion, Ferrari Faqiri who was recently awarded funding from MWR Solicitors to support him with training and travel expenses.</p>
<p>In 2010, MWR launched its Funds4Clubs scheme which makes a donation to a sporting, social or recreational clubs if one of their members uses MWR’s services. Clubs that have benefited from Funds4Clubs include Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club, Avenger Performing Arts and Longridge Town Junior FC.</p>
<p>Preston-born Gema, a teacher at Walton-le-Dale Primary School and former Preston Grasshoppers No.8, will compete in the Virgin London Marathon on April 17 2011 alongside an estimated 50,000 people.</p>
<p>Welcoming the sponsorship Gema said: “This is the first time I have run the London Marathon and it is such a big challenge. I am very grateful to MWR for its financial support.”</p>
<p>Gema was recently named as Preston Harriers Ladies’ Champion. In 2010, she ran in number local races including the Preston 10K, Garstang 10K and the Chernobyl 10K, which took place in Preston in aid of the children of Belarus affected by the Chernobyl disaster.</p>
<p>Following the marathon, she will start training for a series of local triathlons to take place in Fleetwood, Ribby Hall and St Annes from May.</p>
